In many cultures forgiveness plays a role in the healing of the soul. Doctors say it’s important to forgive because in this stressful world, carrying anger or resentment for someone adds to the anxiety.
“The retention of these negative emotions of anger and hatred undermine our physical health, or mental health and not surprisingly our spiritual well being,” Reverend Michael Barry said.
Barry is the director of pastoral care at the Cancer treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia and author of the book, The Forgiveness Project.
